Sushi Jin

Sushi Jin in Houston, Texas 9 March 2011

I asked the sushi chef what he recommended. He said O-toro, which was not on the menu, sea trout, yellowtail, and, of course, I got uni. The miso soup was hot and tasty. I think I just like it a little thick, not watery.

I enjoy watching the chef work so carefully. After cuting the part of the fish he wats, he wraps it in a white material, followed by the usual sushi plastic wrap. He gave me a free yummy appetizer.

The otoro - fatty tuna - melted in my mouth. It was so delicious I would order more if not full. The uni was tasty and felt more like cream than velvet. Smooth. There was a decent amount, too.

This is my first time trying sea trout. It was salmon color, and, after the uni, felt more chewy. Definitely fatty, in an enjoyable way. I noticed that the sushi was so good I started eating without taking a picture!

Next was the yellowtail. I don't know how he does it - marinade, cut, preparation- but even the yellowtail has that creamy texture.

Still lusting after otoro, I ordered more. This time I got a photo.  There are some things in life that override our knowledge that it is time to stop. This otoro, I did not want it to end. So I forced myself to write, finish the tea, and get the check. No need to ruin a wonderful feast.
